I had the privilege of visiting the Nigerian Embassy in Berlin, Germany, where I had the opportunity to meet His Excellency Yusuf Tuggar, the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany. The purpose of my visit was to establish a cordial relationship with the ambassador, share the reasons behind my visit to Germany, and discuss the work I have been engaged in on an international level. My primary objective was to seek advice and potential collaboration with the embassy, while also exploring opportunities for Nigerian youth in Germany. This report aims to inspire youth towards partnership for sustainable development in Nigeria and highlight the significance of our commitment to addressing global challenges.
During our meeting, Ambassador Tuggar emphasized the Nigerian embassy’s tireless efforts in securing the return of stolen artifacts back to the Benin Kingdom. He highlighted the significance of these cultural treasures to Nigeria’s heritage and the importance of preserving them for future generations. This initiative demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to reclaiming its cultural heritage and fostering national identity. He also expressed his disappointment regarding the lack of recognition Nigeria receives from the international community, particularly the G20, despite numerous positive contributions of Nigerians in the global space. He highlighted Nigeria’s active participation in various global initiatives, such as peacekeeping operations, climate change mitigation, and regional stability efforts while adding that it is imperative for Nigerian youths to recognize and build upon these contributions to foster a positive international image for the country.
The ambassador commended our team’s efforts in promoting Nigeria positively and acknowledged the potential for Nigerian youth to contribute to sustainable development. Recognizing the pressing issue of illegal migration, particularly among Edo State youths, Ambassador Tuggar provided valuable guidance on legal pathways for Nigerian youth to seek employment opportunities in Germany. He emphasized that Germany is currently facing a workforce crisis, and there are potential avenues for Nigerian youth to contribute and fill the skill gaps in various sectors. By offering guidance and support on navigating the German job market, the ambassador aimed to promote legal migration and address the underlying causes of illegal migration. It is crucial to explore opportunities for collaboration between Nigeria and Germany to harness the talents and skills of Nigerian youth and contribute to the economic growth and development of both nations while also addressing the root causes of illegal migration.
My visit to the Nigerian Embassy in Berlin, Germany, was an enlightening experience. Ambassador Tuggar’s emphasis on the return of stolen artifacts, Nigeria’s positive contributions on the global stage, and gainful opportunities for Nigerian youth in Germany served as inspiration for further engagement and collaboration. As Nigerian youths, we must recognize our potential and commit ourselves to addressing the challenges facing our nation and the world. By actively participating in sustainable development efforts, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, and engaging in global initiatives, we can contribute to the betterment of Nigeria and inspire positive change among our peers. Together, we can build a brighter and more sustainable future for our country and make a meaningful impact on a global scale.
