Excited to share my experience at the Global Solutions Summit (GSS24) in Berlin, Germany, from May 6-7, 2024!
Last year, I had the honor of participating in GSS23 as the African Engagement Adviser and to join a group of young experts in the context of the G20 India. This year, I was privileged to attend as part of the newly formed African Engagement Group for the Young Global Changers (YGC), as the African Union has become a new, permanent member of the G20.
One highlight was engaging in a closed session with Ambassador Albert Mudenda Muchanga, the African Union Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Minerals. We had an in-depth discussion about the prospects and opportunities of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The summit organizers ensured widespread participation from Africa and the global south, recognizing the importance of integrating voices from these regions into policy forums. With the G20 presidency moving from Brazil to South Africa in 2025, it’s crucial to foster meaningful dialogues on real issues, and with those directly affected.
The summit featured numerous strong voices, including Bill Gates on behalf of his foundation; Amadou Hott, special envoy to the president of the African Development Bank; Salma Abbasi, Founder, Chairperson, and CEO of eWorldwide Group; Ifeoma Charles-Monwuba, Director/Representative UNOPS Ghana Multi-Country Office.
I wish to thank Dennis Snower, its president, Agnes Michalik, Christian Karlstrop, its CEO, Ole Spies, Head of Youth Engagement, YGC; and Nicolas Buchoud, Fellow at GSI, to name a few, alongside the whole GSI team.
With my colleagues from Edo State and other regions of Nigeria, we promoted cultural exchange by showcasing our vibrant cultural attires, adding colour to the event.
Now, I want to continue my engagement not only with the Youth but also with Women and Civil Society, especially through the Y20, the W20, and the C20, together with think-tanks, and GSI, ahead of the G20 South Africa in 2025.
Looking forward to even more engagements at GSS25 🌍🤝
